AURORA’S HALLOWEEN HAVOC
“Halloween Everyday” is an old mantra of the Providence underground that still holds true to the grit and spirit of the city we call home. Here at Aurora we have tried to take a more literal approach to this idea and are proud to offer up a host of appropriately “Hallows Eve-y” programming and events all month in October. Here’s a taste of the candy fueled hurricane coming our way:
Thursday October 13th, 11pm
Third Shift Halloween Edition: Aurora’s homegrown networking showcase for emerging Music Producers in the RI area. Created and curated by local producer and super talent, Kris Fame, October’s installment should prove to be spooky, chill, and trill.
Friday October 14th, 9pm
Haunted Providence Masquerade Ball:
Good and Evil collide competing for sweet sweet prizes (for Best Costume in several categories.)
Also a Silent Auction to benefit Providence Animal Rescue League. Fortune Tellers, refreshments, dancing, showbiz! Entertainment by Morte McAdaver, Shakesperotica and DJ Joey Electric spinning Spooky and Gothic tunes to dance to.
Sunday October 16th, 7pm
Halloween Burlesque edition:
Aurora’s favorite Burlesque troupe returns for another installment of their “After Dark” series, this time with a ghoulishly delightful theme.
Wednesday October 19th 7pm
The Vortex Film Festival:
From the people who bring us the Rhode Island Film Festival, comes Vortex; a celebration of Horror, Sci-Fi and Fantasy. Vortex showcases imagination and creativity in filmmaking and will include a bevy of World and U.S. Premieres. In all, 80 films have been selected from over 5,000 submissions. They represent 15 countries including the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada, Germany, Iran, Spain, France, Turkey, South Korea, Poland, and the United States. Many of the filmmakers will be in attendance, so audience members will have a chance to meet, ask questions, and even network with the next generation of genre filmmakers.
followed by Frank Difficult presents at 9:30pm:
Providence’s own Frank Difficult helms another installment of his long running series, a multi media presentation of old and new, favorites and forgotten gems. Not to be missed by crate diggers and cinephiles alike.
Thursday October 20th 9pm

Thursday October 27th
Cassette Halloween Edition:
When the best selling album of all time is the 1982 horror themed pop Masterpiece Thriller, it’s kind of a no-brainer for our 80’s dance night to go off the wall with a Halloween theme. Costumes encouraged. The 1980s were the last decade of The Great American Halloween Experience.
Monday October 24th 6:30pm
The Cozy Theater: Hocus Pocus
Don’t act like you don’t remember Hocus Pocus. Don’t act like this isn’t your jam. Don’t act like you’re not excited. Don’t act like you wont show. Free Popcorn. Followed directly by Free Monday concert series. Saddle up. Reese’s 4 LYFE. Shout out to local hero Charlie Rocket.
